The ace sellers of property

The ace sellers of property

NT News 04.06.2023 | Samantha Healy

They may be musos and golf triages in their downtime, but a new list of the NT’s rock stars of real estate has revealed the top agents based on how many sales they made in the past 12 months.

And they are not only the heavy hitters in Darwin, with regional agents also among the top sellers in an inaugural list released by realestate.com.au, which ranks the agents who have sold the past year.

Taking out top place with 94 reported sales in the past 12 months was Daniel Harris, of Real Estate Central. Mr Harris was also named the Top Residential Agent – NT at the 2023 Annual REA Excellence Awards. Among his sales record between April 2022 and March this year were a six-bedroom house at Girraween, which sold for $1.17m in February, and an acreage property at Humpty Doo that changed hands for $1.017m last November. And when he is not selling houses, he is donating his to a raft of local charities and sporting clubs.

Derek Hart and Darren Hunt (Elders Darwin) took out our second and third places on the list, with 71 and 69 sales.

Call2View agent Adam Hayes has 68 sales, while Ray White Darwin principal Andrew Harding and Real Estate Central’s Michael Van De Graaf tied for firth spot with 64 sales each. Mr Harding was behind one of the top sales of the year so far,  1.95ha jaw-dropper at McMins Lagoon for $2m in February.

Gennie Cox, of Elders Real Estate Palmerston, who has 26 years in the property game, recorded 63 sales, with the majority of her business either repeat or referred customers.

Stewie Martin, who was at Real Estate Central before opening his own business, Smart Real Estate, has chalked up 44 sales over 12 months.

Relatively new to the real estate game is Chris Clarke, of Real Estate Central. Mr Clarke spent 11 years in Darwin’s hospitality sector, making him one of the most well-connected agents in the Top End, before moving into the property four years ago. In his spare time, he can be found playing music at any one of Darwin’s watering holes, either by himself with an acoustic guitar or on the drums with party bands Funky Monks, Rukus and Fever. He has sold everything from $1m homes to affordable one-bedders in the heart if the CBD.

Away from the capital, it was neck-and-neck for the top place, with Sam Linn of LJ Hooker Alice Springs, making 60 sales and Ashleigh Chadwick of Elders Real Estate Katherine, racking up 59 sales. Mr Linn took over as principal and licensee of the Alice Springs team in 2020, and when he is not making deals, he is a proud dad to his young daughter and enjoys early morning fitness session and chasing a hole-in-one. He has a median sales price of $504,000.  Ms Chadwick relocated to Katherine, and made the switch from hairdressing to real estate six years ago.

Lindsay Carey, of Nutrien Harcourts, Alice Springs (39 sales), Drew Hendricks, of Alice Springs Realty (32), and Jo-Anne Pulsford, of Nutrien Harcourts Alice Springs (29), rounded out the top five agents for sales in the regional NT’s top 20 performers.

(*Note: Some agents have moved to new agencies or opened their own businesses during this period so may no longer be at their agency matched to the sales data)
